NIIZH

 

This is the second person, as we go along, it will get easier.  Patterns will emerge, making the language a little bit easier to understand. 

 

PUT THE FOLLOWING VAI’S INTO SECOND PERSON FORM, PAGE DOWN TO SEE THE CORRECT ANSWERS.  REMEMBER THAT SECOND PERSON IS “YOU”.

 

2nd person rules

If the verb starts with a consonant, put “GI” before the word as your prefix.

If the verb starts with an “A,E,I” put GID” before the word as your prefix.

If the verb starts with an “O” put “GIDO” before the word as your prefix.

NOTE: IF THE WORD ENDS IN A SHORT “I” OR “O” DROP THE VOWEL, DO THIS ONLY ON 1ST AND 2ND PERSON.       

 

Bagizo- s/he is swimming, Dewizi-s/he is aching, Giigido-s/he is speaking

Jiibaakwe-s/he is cooking, Zagaswaa-s/he is smoking, Anokii-s/he is working, Ezhishin-s/he leaves a mark, Inaabi-peeking/looking, Odamino-s/he is playing, Manise- s/he is getting firewood, Naadasabii-s/he is checking a net, Wiisini- s/he is eating.

 

You are swimming-GIbagiz

You are aching- GIdewiz

You are speaking- GIgiigid

You are cooking- GIjiibaakwe

You are smoking- GIzagaswaa

You are working- GIDanokii

You are leaving a mark- GIDezhishin

You are peeking/looking- GIDinaab

You are playing- GIDOodamin

You are getting firewood- GImanise

You are checking the net- GInaadasabii

You are eating- Giwiisin

 

3rd person rules are very simple. There are no rules, VAI’s are already in 3rd person form. 3rd person is S/he, him, her.
